Our trip in Normandy

On Friday April 11th, we went to the American cemetery, la Pointe du Hoc and the German cemetery.

First, we left the school at 8:30 am to go to the American Cemetery of Colleville. By group, we visited the site with a guide. She told the story of the Bedford’s boys. It was moving and interesting. She put a lot of emotion in her speech. The cemetery was very beautiful and impressive. After, we visited the cemetery’s museum.

When we finished the visit, we ate on the beach of the D-day. We had sandwiches for lunch. It was nice because the sun shone.

Next, we went to la Pointe du Hoc. We imagined the soldiers fought 70 years before. We didn’t have a lot of time to see all the site.

Finally, we saw the German cemetery of la Cambe. It was smaller than the American cemetery. We didn’t have a guide so we didn’t understand all.

We returned in the bus at 3:30 pm and we arrived at the school at 4:45 pm.

We keep a lot of good memories of this day. We prefered the visit of the American cemetery. Therefore, we would like to come back later.
